It’s done, finished, over. I don’t care how many more Endless Eight episodes they do or don’t produce; KyoAni’s thrown a sure deal away, looked a gift horse in the mouth, exploited their fans beyond the breaking point, and I’m not having any of it anymore.
I think, if we want to show KyoAni and Kadokawa that we’re not standing for this, that we have to do something about it more than just complaining. After all, so many naive fools are still watching the series, no matter how much they moan about it.
And so for this bandwagon, this is where I jump off. I urge you to do the same before other companies think they can get away with such cheap tactics, that offend the very nature of anime itself.

Ugh. So glad I didn’t buy the actual DVDs or any actual merchandise. Kadokawa isn’t getting any of my hard-earned dollars anymore if they’re going to take advantage of us fans like this.
From now on, Haruhi is dead. Nietzsche would be proud.

This page contains spoilers — Important plot secrets and/or conclusions may be revealed. For example, HOLY SHIT HARUHI IS GOD OR SOME SHIT AND THE PURPLE HAIRED RETARDED FREAK IS AN ALIEN AND THE ONE WITH THE BIG TITS IS FROM TEH FUTURE AND THEY MUST KEEP HARUHI ENTERTAINED OR SHE'LL PWN US ALL OMG!!!1 Also the normal guy and the big breasted one were inside the purple haired retarded freaks apartment for 3 years, plus the characters are now over 500 years old BUT WHO CARES?!!!1
"Season 2 TROLL_rage":
Spoiler:
The "Season 2" Drama
Once upon a time, the people that produced this animu said they were going to make a second season, and for more than two years they didn't give a release date. But because the studio is full of greedyJews, they decided to bait their fucktarded audience again and again with shitty calendars or supposed previews to squeeze out more money. This works because the audience will swallow up everything the Jews give them while in the meantime, they produce new crappy shows nobody actually watches. As you may have picked up already, Kadokawa Shoten and Kyoto Animation, the company and studio behind the Haruhi anime, are known to be masterful in the art of trolling. However, fan pressure for a new season would not let up, but a release date for the 10th volume of Haruhi was nowhere in sight due to the creators obviously jacking off to their own drawings of Mikuru. Kadokawa and Kyoto knew they couldn't keep trolling the same way, but they were royally fucked because they didn't have enough to base the second season on. Deciding to go on with their epic trolling schemes they then attempted to confuse and piss off everyone further by making 2 jewtube web series that were based off two spinoff mangas that noone had ever fucking heard of. Soon after they produced much rage among their rabid fanbase by announcing a new Haruhi "TV anime" for April, which was thought to be the second season. Of course, everyone who isn't a moron would be skeptical about this, since this wasn't the first time those geniuses trolled. But Haruhi's retarded fanbase obviously couldn't see through this, which made them rage even more when they found out the truth. It was revealed to be a rebroadcast of the same shit, just to produce more money. Rage and Drama ensued, and weeaboos across the globe committed suicide by shoving countless pocky down their throats. What they didn't know however, is that the new anime contained new episodes that were supposed to be in season 2. So just as soon as everyone smart would have given up hope, they would have missed at least one of the new episodes they so dearly wanted to see. GG Kadokawa, GG.
Haruhi fans thought now the wait was finally over and they would finally get what they believed they deserved. But as if they hadn't learned before, they still couldn't figure out that Kadokawa and Kyoto still had a few lulz up their sleeve. On June 18, 2009, the new episode "Endless Eight" aired. On June 25, "Endless Eight" aired. On July 2, "Endless Eight" aired. On July 9, "Endless Eight" aired. On July 16, "Endless Eight" aired. On July 24, "Endless Eight" aired. On July 31, "Endless Eight" aired. On August 7, "Endless Eight" aired. That's right, "Endless Eight" deals with a time loop, and while it was solved pretty quickly in the novels, Kadokawa Animation Studios has had 8 episodes air going over the EXACT SAME EVENTS, albeit with very minor changes. All in all, brilliant trolling. It was 8 fucking episodes long, and it was once thought that it could make up the rest of the series, but that's not all. You see, they tried to make the viewers believe that the anime version of endless eight was going to have a different, and even more incredibly bad ending. So to fool the viewers, they put these paper airplanes in the fourth episode to make the viewers think that Haruhi would stop BAAAAAWING and finally let time continue if they flew some paper airplanes. I'm not kidding you. PAPER. FUCKING. AIRPLANES. But instead they gave us the best trolled ending ever. At the end of the last episode of Endless Eight, instead of basically saying "I don't know what that bitch wants, I give up" like he always does, Kyon gets out of his seat and yells "I HAVEN'T... FINISHED MY LIST YET!" at the top of his lungs. It's as incredibly cheesy as it sounds. Then Haruhi turns around and is like "lolwut?" Then this incredibly inappropriate victory music plays as Kyon screams at the top of his lungs like a faggot about how he hasn't finished his homework, and that the SOS Brigade members should all do their homework with him at his house. The funny part is that he does this in a way that sounds like he's preparing them for battle like Leonidas or some shit. Completely caught off guard, Haruhi switches to RAGE mode, backs Kyon into a fucking corner, grabs him by the collar and screams "I'M THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF! I MAKE THE THE ORDERS! YOU DO NOT FUCK WITH ME!". Then after a pause she gives in and decides to go with them. Then Kyon wakes up to see that his choice somehow made Haruhi end her 500 year summer repeating streak; but unfortunately, for the fans, he still didn't get laid. Yes, apparently homework is SOOOO GOOD that it will make you stop repeating the summer for 500 YEARS. You know what? I'll take their word for it, BRB JACKING OFF TO SOME HOMEWORK.
Former Haruhi Anime Director Speaks Out
At some randomweeaboofaggot farm, the former director of the Haruhi anime decided to speak out against Kadokawa and Kyoto Animation's epic trolling. He then proceeded to BAAAAAWW about how they were actually planning this ahead of time while he was still there, and if he was there he would have never let this happen. Kadokawa, now laughing their asses off, couldn't hide their troll faces, so they sent their representative, Serious Cat, to say the following:
“
This person has absolutely nothing to do with our company.
Haruhi loves making subtle references to other animu. To get this reference, you must be a weeaboofaggot, or a fan of horror series. Either one works. same thing.
Recently, the makers and shakers behind Haruhi have recently announced that "something is going to happen"...literally. But apparently it's SO BIIIG that it will involve interviews with some of the voice actors of the series. Some speculate a movie, others speculate another season. All we know is that there is GOING to be more trolling involved, and it will SURELY be epic. So check this section for actual content in the next couple of weeks or so. Either way, anyone who is still loyal to the Haruhi anime, and is currently waiting for a comeback, is obviously a fucking moron. They gave us a list as follows:
“
The seiyuu for Haruhi, Nagato and Mikuru are recording some exclusive interview for distribution only to Newtype’s loyal rubes!
Endless Eight will be shown again on Newtype’s site for a whole day at the end of August! Relive the joy!
Fans will finally get to test their knowledge of Endless Eight in the “Endless Eight Cult Quiz”! How many questions will you be able to answer?
New information on Haruhi goods for you to obediently buy up is forthcoming!

SOS! Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009) »» .

Dann wäre das The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.. nicht?

lolikitsune must watch every second of this anime to improve the quality of his sad-sack life.
This is not an endorsement of the second and currently airing season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. It doesn’t say here that this show is good, and that anyone is missing out. Rather, I agree with Pontifus when he says [->]
All the weight/meaning in the world means nothing if you find the experience regrettable or a waste.
So I am not apologizing for the currently airing second season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. I will entertain no such folly, never mind the delicious Macross references. What I am saying is that I have pierced the barrier of boredom with my drill of personal enjoyment, and I’ll tell you how I did it. Consider it or not at your leisure. The main problem of the Endless8 arc is that every episode after the third one is a copy of the same show essentially. The TV format may not even be the ideal way to do it. From the archives I retreive two posts:
Both posts by mechafetish, where he looked into our common behavior of rewatching shows we like. The first post measured a show’s subjective rewatchability ratio. Using the tools in that post, I would give this current season 2/6 (current episode count) = 0.33. This does not account for the recency bias; this ratio, as subjective as it is, may not hold over time with me, since I gave the clearly superior first season a 2/13 = .15 (the one with Lost my music, and Haruhi & Kyon’s preview leading to that episode: “LISTEN TO MY SONG! BOMBAAA!”). The second post, references the idea of eternal recurrence proposed by Friedrich Nietchzche as presented by Milan Kundera in his novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Mechafetish says,
This behavior fundamentally alters the way I derive utility from anime I watch. Generally, I tend to have fonder memories of anime that provide me with rewatchable moments simply because I generate more utility per minute due to selective rewatching. For example, I actually love Brain Powered (an anime generally agreed upon to be atrocious) because of exactly 2 moments in the later episodes that I watched more than all the episodes of the entire series combined.
Crappy anime, but with rewatchable moments. I felt that I was onto something here. There was almost this independentutility in rewatching a particular moment that is distinguished from the show, but not apart from it. The context is still decisive in appreciating such moments, but this enjoyment does influence one’s affinity for the show that made them. So this comprises the first part of the premise of my enjoying Endless8. The second part is very much related, otou-san put it thusly,
Re-watching anime, like any visual entertainment, can give you new perspective on it just from the plain and simple value of seeing things again. We tend to see plot, character development, and visuals the first time around (and considering anime means watching with subtitles for most of us, even the visuals can be secondary at times). But that second viewing can reveal details of reference, symbolism, and detail. If you only watched The Holy Mountain or, yeah I’ll say it, FLCL just once, you missed something.
While never close to insane levels of rewatching the way mechafetish does, I rewatch anime and reread manga a lot. And yes, I often feel that I discover new things every time I see the same show again.
The way I ended up enjoying Endless8 episodes 4, 5, and 6 is that I related to them as rewatch adventures for episode 3.
But episode 3 was just a few weeks ago, it’s too soon for an appreciative (as opposed to a data-mining for articles) rewatch. Yes, that is true. It was a solid wall that would’ve stopped my enjoyment frozen. But it didn’t. It was a wall? I smashed right through it. The difference is, that there are definite, obvious, subtle and new things to discover, not only because I missed them the first time, but rather there were changes by design. Maybe this only works because I don’t have the best short-term memory, maybe I find the episodes interesting because I skipped chunks of it. I’m not the biggest fan of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, but I like it; and I wasn’t enjoying myself at all watching the same episode over and over again. Until, I realized how often I do this for singular episodes of other shows (list does not include the constant rotation of random episodes from the Macross franchise):
Detroit Metal City 07, where a giant penis gets raped [->]
Turn A Gundam 50, the epilogue that kills me every time (featuring “Tsuki no Mayu” full version)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann 27
Now, I’m not saying the Endless8 recursion of the 3rd episode deserves a place on this list, but as for the episode itself – there was much to enjoy within it. It’s the recursion that bothered me, not the content it is based on. So basically, I found a way to enjoy this (and it’s not like I’m jumping up and down screaming how awesome it is, that happened in episode 02 during Kyon’s ‘Kakizaki Requiem’ with matching Itano Circus). So this is how I inadvertently found myself enjoying episode 06 after I thought I’d given up after episode 05. Take this as you will. I just happen to think that ‘who enjoys, wins.’
Also 211, 217 und 221.

I wanna slap Kadokawa and Kyoani. I skipped to the end of the Endless Eight chapter in the novel. All he did was ask to do the homework together. That's it. Hahaha.... HAHAHAHAHA. OH MAN. Why, go through the pain of EIGHT REPEATING EPISODES when you can just have ONE OR TWO? Hooo man. Honestly I haven't even been watching these episodes, just been saying I've watched them. Think I just might drop Haruhi and just read the novels
Edit: And to those who said it'd be ridiculous for Kyon to do his homework, well the jokes on you cause that's how the arc ends.

Endless Eight is the best piece of writing to ever come out of Kadokawa's mouth. It is literary genius. I cannot define any other arc as competent as this complete, full and complicated arc. Kyon fumbles in disdain as Haruhi leaves the door, GENIUS! I could never have come up with such a scheme!!!!!!1shift1!!
Kadokawa you guys are really smart! Why didn't I think of that!!!!11221!
My respect for Haruhi grows ever the more!!!!111!
I have re-watched this arc over 9000 times tbh
More words of praise appreciated ^_^
An early copy of the September issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine has confirmed that the current Endless Eight arc of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya television anime series will end this week. The Newtype issue will officially ship on Monday. The Endless Eight arc recounts a short time-loop plotline from Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito's original science-fiction comedy light novels. In the anime version, the same story was used for several episodes in the row, with minor changes from week to week. The anime has been in this story arc since June 19.

In a recent inteview for Voice Newtype, Hirano Aya mentioned that she just finished recording the Endless Eight arc. Considering that it can take about a month for a recorded anime to finally air, does that mean we are stuck in that loop for another 4 weeks? OH SNAP!

Because I've seen so many people asking for a review, I shall give it to them
This new season of Haruhi is so fucking awesome you will never want to see other animes ever again. In fact, I just quit my job, left school, killed my parents, and sold all my belongings and became a traveling monk to find the inner peace through Haruhism.
This anime is better than sex, drugs, and alcohol combined. Greatest masterpiece ever animated. And obviously everything I say is absolute fact and everyone else's opinions are completely wrong because if you hate Haruhi, you hate life, and puppies.
Weil die S2 is ja wirklich gut.

You could spend all your money on a spectacular holiday, and not worry about debt, you could kill yourself just to see what happens and then come back to life when the loop started again, you could memorize your school textbooks for all the years to come, it would be amazing!

School Days : School Days On the day before the airing of the final episode of the hentai anime School Days in Japan, a 16 year old girl killed her father with an axe in Kyoto. Due to an extremely similar scene present in the episode and to avoid relation to the axe murder, TV Kanagawa replaced it with a half hour of unrelated scenery with “Air on a G String” playing in the background. Among the shock and rage expressed among fans, a 4chan user commented “Nice Boat”, referring to the Norwegian ferry shown in the replacement footage. Immediately the phrase became a meme, however is far more popular in Japan than in English speaking countries. Click here to see the original scene (WARNING: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!!)

CONFIRMED: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu's Endless Eight arc has died. The cancer was none other than the fans. The Kadokawa doctors tried removing the cancer by telling them that, as quoted,'THE FANRAGE VERY FUNNEH LOL'. While most weren't convinced, some were.
Medical doctors today say the miracle that Kadokawa created has made history in medicine.
This shocking inception has rocked the world to its core.
The trolls Kadokawa finally ended their streak of success.

ENDLESS>>>>>
Spoiler:
(Here’s a long critical review I wrote some while back on the infamous arc if you have the time…)
Mmm… just marathoned the Endless Eight. It was quite the experience, and I am happy that I decided to go through with it. That is not to say that I enjoyed it though, as the arc was absolute rubbish. If I ever rewatch the series, I will just watching the 8th episode of the arc. I’m severely disappointed with what Kyoto Ani (or the director) did to the Endless Eight, as well as the second season of Haruhi. They abused the name of the company, the good will of the fans, the quality of the novels, and the essence of the Haruhi story.
First of all, what sort of person thought those eight episodes of essentially the same story would be a good way to bring a long anticipated second season of one of the most anticipated series? Kyoto Ani, or the director, followed through on the Eight episode arc, even after a year’s deliberation while knowing that it would cause uproar. This sort of attitude was in your face to the fans and other companies, basically showing the animation monopoly on the franchise. It also used the instrument of bad publicity to achieve recognition, disgracing other Kyoto Ani works by putting out a piece of garbage with poor presentation that is to be associated with Clannad (+Afterstory), Air, Lucky Star, Kanon, and even Haruhi Season 1. These animes were well done, yet in some sense have received less popularity than the trash which was the Endless Eight. This arc was done for reasons that should not be associated with any Haruhi fan or Kyoto Animation.
Second, the arc is an utter disgrace to Tanigawa and the brilliant work that he created. What was done with the arc was an abomination to the Endless Eight of the novels. The novel had suspense, mystery, and déjà vu, but was written in a way that kept pace and followed only one, the last, iteration of the 15,498. Thus, the creation of an arc that followed eight iterations is not only filler but also a gross distortion of the novel. There was not nearly enough material to make such an arc, as the Endless Eight is merely one chapter of three in the Rampage of Suzumiya Haruhi, roughly 70 pages. This is a travesty, as the 70 pages of a cute, but relatively unimportant and uninteresting arc, received more episodes dedicated to it than did The Melancholy, The Boredom, or Sighs of Suzumiya Haruhi. There is something severely wrong with this proportion of screen time, especially since the other works had both more material and were much more interesting. Even more so, what some consider being the gem of the series, the Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi, will garner 2 and a half hours of film, while this nearly worthless arc has over 3 hours of film! That, in itself, is absolutely outrageous. In addition, the Endless Eight was done ‘as filler’ so that The Disappearance could be made into a movie(I like the fact that this book could get a movie), but it inevitably pushed back future arcs which could have been animated. The Disappearance, which should have been released already, now pushes back the wait for other material. Essentially, thanks to the Endless Eight, there were only three new arcs of the second season [Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody (1 Ep.), Endless Eight (8 Ep.), and Sighs (5 ep.)]. If one needed to make the Disappearance into a movie, then it would have been better to make the ‘second season’ that of a 7 episode season or OVA while releasing the movie just after the completion. This arc, and the components surrounding it, has led me to a great disappointment in the adaptation of the Haruhi novels.
Finally, the execution of the Endless Eight was extremely poor. The prospects of these Eight episodes were not what perturbed me, but the rather arrogant and half-assed presentation. Although I do not know whether to blame Kyoto Ani or the director, there were so many different ways to approach this arc, but their attempts were utter failures. These Eight episodes failed to capture both the spirit of the first season and of the actual arc from the novels. As I said before, the last episode of the arc could have been watched and nothing would have been lost. Yet, if done properly, several episodes would have been plausible from the novel material, consisting of two loops or multiple episodes of one loop. However, if all Eight were needed to drive the point home, there could have been at least some creativity and diversity. I understand that there was a different animation for each episode, but essentially, with only slight modifications in the first and last episode, each held the exact same content. There might have been a different pretty picture each time, but the same mundane speech and story remained. They could have at least had some creativity and shown the loop where the O-ban festival was omitted, changed the jobs, altered the character’s lines, or significantly changed the activities, as Nagato had stated different variations. (Wow, maybe some original, creative, content?) However, I was frustrated at the lack of creativity or presentation. Additionally, the animation quality of this arc was extremely poor in comparison with the first season. It seems as if the episodes were just thrown together. (Although this is still better than other studios, it’s just that this is supposed to be Kyoto Ani.) The animation of the characters really degraded and their movements seemed off at times. I was also extremely peeved at the appearance of K-on in Haruhi. (K-on itself is good, but the style does not reflect what Haruhi should bring as an anime.) There were points where Mikuru could have just been stolen from K-on, and throughout the entire arc Haruhi lost that expression that she had in the first season and was replaced with a flat, moe-style, K-on face. That did not fit whatsoever. In fact, the facial animations of almost all the characters had been simplified, and downgraded from those of the first season.
There are some who say that a true fan of the series would like the Endless Eight, but I, as a fan of the series, strongly disagree. This arc whored itself out to gain bad popularity and shamed the novels. The Endless Eight Arc does not contain the essence of what Haruhi is, and is entirely a slap in the face to any fan of the series (whether one realizes that or not), as well as the original material and any other work produced by Kyoto Ani. If anyone actually finished this review, thank you for reading. It was quite a lot of writing, but I feel better now after expressing my complete dissatisfaction with the Endless Eight and its repercussions for the Haruhi series.
Couldn't resist No, you don't need to read it.. it's a sample of what that Arc has done... But this made it all~ worth it:D

I know somewhere back in the comments I plugged my blog post that explained the logic behind Endless Eight, but since it's still being discussed here, I figured I'd copy and paste an excerpt:
Spoiler:
The reason for what KyoAni/Kadokawa did with "Endless Eight" goes back as far as the 2006 TV series. I remember hearing a rumor that KyoAni had planned for the 2006 series to be longer, which is why scenes from "Endless Eight" and "The Disappearance" appeared in the original opening and ending. However, some scheduling conflict arose with their release of Kanon 2006 and they had to cut the Haruhi series at 14 episodes.
KyoAni had plans to animate "The Disappearance" early on, perhaps while the 2006 series was airing, or at least after its success. They knew "The Disappearance" is the most popular novel and thus decided to make it a high-budget film rather than episodes.
Unfortunately, KyoAni ended up letting three years go by without any new Haruhi anime besides some vague hinting at "The Disappearance."
Perhaps they needed all this time to plan things out, or maybe they were waiting for Tanigawa to release volume 10 of the novels to give the franchise a popularity boost. But volume 10 never came and after three years, Haruhi's popularity was starting to fade. However, they couldn't release the "Disappearance" movie yet because they needed to animate the three stories that were absent from the 2006 series which occurred chronologically before "The Disappearance" - "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody," "Endless Eight," and "The Sigh."
These three stories were too short to warrant a whole second season for themselves, so what did KyoAni come up with? A rebroadcast of the original 2006 episodes, in chronological order, with the new stories inserted within. That way, after three years, fans could not only get their memory refreshed for "The Disappearance" (the rebroadcast could attract new fans, too), but also see the new episodes.
Just one problem remained - the original 14 episodes plus "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody," "Endless Eight," and "The Sigh" would still not be enough to cover the typical scheduling block of 24 to 28 episodes, since "BLR" and "E8" are two of the shorter stories. KyoAni didn't want to make up their own filler episodes nor animate stories that occurred after "The Disappearance" and ruin the rebroadcast's chronology. I believe you all know what they finally came up with - create an outrageous twist on the plot of "Endless Eight" and turn it into a repetitive, eight-episode story arc. "E8" wasn't just a shameless troll that KyoAni made because they hate their fans - as I've illustrated above, I believe there was at least some logic behind it. Basically, everything that KyoAni did with Haruhi after the 2006 series was for the sake of "The Disappearance" movie.
I hope this helps explain why they made "E8" the way they did. I'm not saying everyone should like it, I just want people to understand where it came from.
